FOLLOW THE PROCESS (Part 2): YOUR WEAKNESS
John 12:6 - Not that he cared for the poor—he was a thief, and since he was in charge of the disciples' money, he often stole some for himself. (NLT)
Read: Luke 22
We learned yesterday how Elisha diligently served Elijah and got a double portion of his anointing. Elisha also had Gehazi, a greedy servant, who lost the mantle that could have made him twice as powerful as Elisha and a quadruple of Elijah.
Gehazi's story sums up Judas Iscariot's betrayal of Christ for 30 pieces of silver. The Bible labels Judas a "thief" even before he betrayed Jesus. In John 12:3-5, after Mary anointed Jesus' feet with expensive oil, Judas said, "Why wasn't this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year's wages." As seen in today's text, Judas did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he craved money.
People today want God to use them powerfully but are unwilling to pay the price. Several aspiring leaders and youth have missed their paths due to their habits. Don't be like Gehazi and Judas, who entered the negative side of history through greed. Instead, examine yourself to see if you still have greed, pride, laziness, anger, and the zeal to emerge before maturity and make corrections.
Beloved, to get to the level God intends for you, you must smooth your bond with Him and the Holy Spirit. He will refine you to reach the top at the set time with no spots or wrinkles. My prayer for you is that you will have the patience and willingness to go through the process of growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ's fullness.
PRAYER
Hymn: Trust and Obey — John H. Sammis (1887)
1. Father, help me never to overlook the defining processes and moments of my life.
2. Holy Spirit, work in me and on me until I become mature enough to emerge.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Every mandate of hell, to make me fall and fail; scatter by fire!
2. As I step into the 'Ember Months', Lord Jesus, please honour Yourself in my life.
3. Father, terminate pride, greed, lusts, and anxiety in the lives of my loved ones and in the Church.
CONGRATULATIONS
