WORSHIP NO MAN
Acts 14:8-20 (11) - When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" (NIV)
Read: Leviticus 19:4; 1 Timothy 5:17-25; 2 Timothy 4:3-4
My phone beeped with a text from someone who mistook me for a popular pastor. With how she communicated, it felt like she was chatting with God. However, she was disappointed when she discovered it was the wrong contact.
While it is important to honour God's vessels, we must not treat them as God. Many people have turned God's servants into idols. The worshippers think the pastors are infallible, so they measure themselves by their principles instead of heaven's standard. This is why several atrocities are perpetrated in Christendom because the people are too gullible to discern.
On the other hand, there are ministers who have taken the place of God. Some servants of God have allowed pride and spiritual insensitivity to rob them of their unction. We must therefore learn from Paul's example in today's Bible reading: after he healed the lame man, the crowd drew closer and began to call him and Barnabas gods. But Paul and Barnabas quickly cautioned the people, saying, "We too are only human, like you".
Beloved, whoever is used by God is human and should never be worshipped. You can only honour and bless them, but all should be to the glory of God. Also, every vessel of God must heed lest the people push them into pride and eventual destruction.
PRAYER
Hymn: Take Time to Be Holy — William D. Longstaff (1882)
1. Father, help me see You in others so that I can glorify You rather than the vessel.
2. Father, please provide me with the necessary resources to bless Your vessels.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, in whatever way I am dying to live, please breathe life into me.
2. Father, deliver the Church and me from any actions that may turn Your face away from us.
3. Father, deliver me, my friends, and my relatives, from the force of the early grave.
PRAYER IS THE KEY
