SACRIFICE
Mark 12:41-44 (44) - They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on." (NIV)
Read: 2 Corinthians 9:7-8
Sacrifice is something of prestige given or a service rendered. In today's Bible reading, the widow, despite giving her little, was counted to have given more than the rich people because she gave all she had as a sacrifice to God. The widow's gift was more weighty because of the value of her offering. She was poor, yet she released everything to God with nothing left, while the wealthy gave a portion of their riches and had enough left in the bank.
God is not moved by an offering given as a tradition but by one offered from a heart of sacrifice. The volume of divine attention you attract depends on the quality of your output, not the quantity. David said, "I won't give God that which does not cost me" (2 Samuel 24:24). This means that what determines the weight of your sacrifice is the value of what you have left after you have given.
Beloved, when you give sacrificially, you gain unrestricted access to the realm of divine blessings and eternal remembrance, just as the widow entered the good side of history through her act of giving. This September, give God the best of everything—time, lifestyle, prayer, strength, and materials—and it will be well with you! Things will begin to work out for you without stress because you will have all your needs met. These shall be your experiences and testimony, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
ACTION POINT
Song: Give to the Lord — Ron Kenoly (1995)
1. Give God a precious offering to begin the month and a season to gradually end the year gloriously.
2. Check the value of what you will have left after you give to God. This will determine if your offering is sacrificial.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Give quality praise to God.
2. Father, grant me the grace to spend and be spent for You.
3. Father, please remember my labour of love!
