SAY IT AS IT IS!
Romans 1:16 - For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. (NLT)
Read: 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Peter Cartwright, a fiery revival preacher, was known for his candid words. In 1830, he was to preach at a Church where the American president would be visiting. The Church informed Mr Cartwright to tone down his words in order not to upset the president.
At the service, Mr Cartwright's first statement was, "I understand the president of the United States, Andrew Jackson, is with us. I have been asked to be guarded in my remarks. But the truth is, Mr Jackson will go to hell if he doesn't repent."
The congregation was shocked, but after the sermon, the president grabbed Mr Cartwright's hand and said, "Sir, if I had an army of men like you, I could drive the world."
Beloved, the world is sick and in need of men like Peter Cartwright and the Apostle Paul, who wrote today's Bible reading. Paul was not timid about proclaiming the gospel because he understood the potency of God's Word. The Word of God saves and can equally be an instrument of rebuke.
In a world of "feel-good gospel", where people rationalise the truth and preachers manipulate the Word to fit worldly values, you must endeavour to speak the truth until nations conform to God's nature. Live like Christ and be bold to say things as they are in your community, Church, workplace, or school. Do not live for the approval of men; otherwise, you will die of their rejection. May the Lord grant you wisdom and utterance when necessary, in Jesus' name.
PRAYER
Hymn: More About Jesus — Eliza E. Hewitt (1887)
1. Father, help me to read, meditate, and speak Your Word boldly.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Thank You, Jesus, for my life, my salvation, and for providing my daily bread.
2. Father, please forgive me for my falsehoods and man-pleasing attitudes.
3. Father, please pour out Your Spirit upon us afresh as individuals, as a nation, and as a church.
