For hundreds of years, magnets have been used to treat localized pains, inflammation, and headaches. They are safe, and in many cases they are effective.
The magnetic field passes easily through all tissues of the body and creates an improved environment for natural healing to occur.
(Caveat: Magnets may affect implanted medical devices such as a pacemakers or insulin pumps, so use caution, consult a doctor first. Magnets are not recommended during pregnancy.)
Magnetic therapy specialists tell us that the repeatable benefits of magnets include:
- Less inflammation
- Better blood flow to the area
- More oxygenation
- Improves processing of toxins
- Reduces pain
- Helps the body's natural healing process
- Releases stress
- Enhances sleep
The basic idea is simple:
Apply a strong magnet to an area of pain until you get relief. Repeat as needed. (Traditionally we use the north pole of the magnet, but recent research says it's fine to use both poles.)
What's a strong magnet?
Therapeutic magnets are 100 gauss to 2500 gauss of magnetic strength. (A refrigerator magnet is 10 gauss.)
The North side/pole of the magnet has a calming and healing effect, and is used most often. It's a good pain reliever.
The South pole of the magnet is more stimulating.
A Bipolar magnet combines both North and South. Its purpose is to increase circulation, and it relieves superficial pain (rather than deeper pain).
Magnetic jewelry is not always effective unless it is sitting on the painful area.
Some acupuncturists use magnets on specific meridian points of the body to increase healing.
A 1997 study at Baylor College of Medicine found that 76% of patients using magnets reported decreased arthritic pain in their joints and muscles. (19% improvement for placebo patients.)
A 1999 study at New York Medical College used magnet insoles to decrease diabetic foot pain, burning, numbness and tingling. This had a 90% success rate, compared to 22% improvement for the placebo group.
In recent times, electromagnets have been invented.
We now have a few studies showing the effectiveness of "pulsed electromagnetic field therapy" (PEMF).
Electromagnetic therapy involves a changing magnetic field. An electric current goes through the magnetic material to produce changing intensities of magnetism.
Recent research says PEMF is effective for musculoskeletal pain and osteoarthritis.
Every kind of magnet is safe for the natural body.
After all, we are electromagnetic beings. Every cell in our body has an electromagnetic field within and around it, as does our entire body (the toroidal structure).
Hands-on healers feel that the flow coming out from our hands is electromagnetic energy.
The magnets I use from time to time do tend to help me.
The other night I relieved my jaw pain with magnets.
I have tried PEMF, and it put me in a relaxed, happy zone.
Have you played much with magnetic therapy?

One more wild notion:
Kryon (lover of humanity, channeled by Lee Carroll) tells us that magnetics are multi-dimensional energies that interface with more than one dimension (which makes me think of the interface between the 3D body and the spirit).
