Last weekend we went to check out Nerdvana Frisco! It was one of the coolest restaurants that I've ever been to! This place is a gaming restaurant for all the fellow nerds and gamers. They have video and board games for guests to play while you make your way through their awesome menu of crafted cocktails and dishes!
We started out with a couple of drinks while we went through the game options and browsed the menu to see what dishes we wanted to try first. We chose the Night Shade and the Metro Mule. I really enjoyed the night shade cocktail. The picture just doesn't do it justice. It is a rum cocktail made with the popular color changing butterfly pea flower extract and edible glitter. I've been wanting to try a cocktail with edible glitter for a while and it did not disappoint.
The cool thing about this drink is that the citrus flavor added to it made the color reaction change from blue to purple. As I made my way through the cocktail it went from a purple shimmering color to a blue. It literally changed colors half way through the drink. It was a pretty cool effect.
The Metro Mule was really good too. It was a bit more heavier on the ginger beer than we were used to so if you want an extra kick I would highly recommend to order that drink with an extra shot of vodka.
We ordered the Spinach Artichoke dip for our appetizer. I was honestly expecting something a little different because usually I go for a cheesy artichoke dip. So it really didn't have the consistency that I was hoping for because it was more on the chunky side in terms of texture. All in all it was pretty good and I could definitely see myself getting it again.
The next thing that we decided to have as our entree was the Short Rib Poutine! It was my favorite thing that we ordered on the menu. This was a first for both of us on trying poutine and I can say that we both absolutely loved it! The savory gravy with the short ribs on top of those fries with the cheese and fresh parsley was amazing. All the flavors together just gave off this comfort food feeling with every bite. This is definitely a dish to try off of the menu. I had this with a glass of Pinot Grigio and it paired perfectly together.
Along with the dish above, one drink that we also ordered was the Eleven Elixr. It was pretty good and more on the sweeter side of martinis. The gin really comes through in the drink along with the sweetness from the berry puree that they used. What I really loved about that cocktail the most was the texture that it added to martini. The berry puree added this smooth velvety texture to the cocktail. It was almost like having a martini smoothie.
And of course, it wouldn't be right if we didn't have dessert! I will say that the S'mores Duval was a perfect choice. I loved the torched marshmallow on the top the most. The chocolate mousse was very light on the chocolate flavor and texture.
We ordered the Van Gogh Dutch Caramel on the rocks and the Black Flag. I loved the Dutch Caramel Vodka. It was my first time trying it and it was very smooth. If you didn't know any better it could easily be mistaken for a whiskey. I would strongly recommend that vodka in particular to pair with the dessert. The Black Flag was an awesome choice as well. It came in a really cool bottle. It was also made with a berry puree which gave it a silky texture. Everything blended together from the rum, banana & pineapple flavor, along with the berry puree was really nice. I also liked that the full cocktail in the bottle was enough for two drinks.
Nerdvana is most definitely a fun creative space to enjoy whether it's for an intimate date, with a group of friends or to try something new as a family. This was definitely an awesome choice for a date outing and I can not wait to visit again!
