and I still haven't figured out what's going on with the structure of the blog. Sorry.

But let's see if we can generate some content, shall we?

Big Food

Stretching the Food Dollar This is a very old post, still in converted blogspot format, but well worth your time. (I may update soon.) It discusses one of my favorite old cookbooks, Meta Givens's The Modern Family Cookbook (1958). The book is written in a different tone than today's cookbooks. It assumes women take pride in being homemakers. The book includes three creeds: The Meal Planner's Creed, The Shopper's Creed, and the Cook's Creed. This post concerns the Shopper's Creed. Quite timely.

Big Garden

Big garden needs some work but it's too wet to work outside. Stay tuned. I'll be planting lettuce in the raised planters soon-- see new header above.

Big Life in Rural Mississippi

Have I mentioned that I had a short story accepted at a literary journal? Well, if I have, I'll do it again. The story is quite unlike anything I've ever written. Darkish. Miss M has told me she will not read anything like that ever again.

Jack and the Dummy fared well this winter. The baled hay helped, and part of the pasture are turning green so they've plenty to chomp on.

If you have not ventured over to Miss Missy's School and poked around, you're missing out on some fun stuff! The home page is selling Miss Missy's School Book I: A Pack of Farm Dogs Starts a School, featuring a preview of the first three chapters. But there is a lot of other free content on the site as well.

Miss Missy's School

The Kid Blog has weekly postings about writing, and some previously unpublished art by Daughter C. No matter the topic, we start with something from Miss Missy's School and then segue into examples from classic children's books. Very kid oriented but grownups may pick up somethings, too.

The Grownup Blog has monthly postings for parents and educators. Again, these are focused on authors and classic books.

There is also a short story, "Missy's Epic Novel," posted under The Times Before Miss Missy's School. Free and downloadable, for kids and adults. Funny if I do say so myself.

Finally, you can sign up for The Farm Journal by Missy. This will be a monthly email newsletter, written by Missy. The content of the Farm Journal will be different from the blogs. Missy hasn't told me exactly what she's thinking about focusing on, but as soon as she does, I'll let you know.

Did you know you can follow Miss Missy's School on Instagram?

I'll close with an appeal or two. If you bought the book, thank you. Please do give it some stars and a quick review where you bought it, or at GoodReads. There are a couple of reviews you could use as models at AMazon.

Any links, reposts, mentions, and the like of the book are greatly appreciated. I'm gearing up to do door-to-door marketing at local book stores and libraries, but personal recommendations are the best. Thanks!
