Happy Holi! This week we celebrate the festival of colours and I am delighted to have my family and friends over. The perfect excuse to cook a delicious Indian feast! Holi is a celebration that marks the arrival of spring and new beginnings, bringing vibrance, colour and joy to our lives! And the food is reflective of the occasion with lots of savoury and sweet snacks, tangy chaat offerings and deliciously vibrant curries. Head over to BBC Food where I’ve shared some of my favourite recipes including Bhel Puri and Samosa Chaat. These dishes are an absolute gem and worth trying out. Make sure not to skimp on the chutneys as they lift the flavour! I’m also excited to announce that I’ll be leading the British Library Food Season - Taste of India session in May this year. It’s a chance for me to share stories from my time growing up in Bombay, India, and I’ll be chatting with four Indian food writers and restaurateurs about their heritage, regional food and spices. It’s such an honour to host these conversations, to talk about diversity and dishes from the subcontinent, and to celebrate the regions of India. Check out all the details and book your tickets. I’m looking forward to meeting you all! As I mentioned in my last issue, we’re inching closer to the US release of Thali and, if you happen to be waiting for your copy of the book, be sure to tag me on Instagram along with the #thalicookbook hashtag. I’d love to see your dishes! And remember, you can still enter the pre-order competition for a chance to win a Thali set from the team at BlissVeda! Last but by no means least, if you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed that Thali was named in the Times Top 10 Non-Fiction best-selling books last weekend! This is a wonderful milestone, one that I want to express my gratitude for. Stay tuned as I’ll be sharing more exciting news over the coming months. Thank you as always for your messages, emails and posts. Until next time, happy cooking! |
