The Mary Shelley Club by Goldy Moldavsky
I started this YA thriller as part of Halloween. It's rife with horror movie references and twists and turns. it had a few 'yell at the screen moments' but I liked it. The ending left me with quite a few questions so there's definitely room for Moldavsky to revisit this idea 4/5
Toil and Trouble edited by Jessica Spotswood
I'be read 3 anthologies by Spotswood and loved them all so now I just have to read everyone she works on. My personal rating and average turned out to be the same. There were a couple stories I didn't love but everything was good. 4.25/5
A Libertarian Walks into a Bear by Matthew Honglotz-Hetling
The more I hear about libertarians, the more I'm convinced they're just discount republicans. The only improvement is not forcing their religion on everyone else. The quality of writing is good and it becomes a cautionary tale about what happens when too little government meets too many arrogant people. 4/5
The Lost Village by Camilla Sten
A dual timeline novel about a town whose entire population vanished. Very spooky in both time periods. 4.5/5
I read a lot more fiction that I was expecting for this month. All three were library books and two had waitlists so I was trying to get them all read quickly.
I've made dents in several other nonfiction books that are going on my TBR for next month.
