Here's what happened in my life over the past week:

  • I've discovered another clue to the genetic picture of my illness. There's a history of mental illness in some of my dad's uncles, but there was none in my parents' generation, and no one but me in my generation. But I've learned that one of my cousins on my dad's side also has depression and needs meds.
  • My province has decided not to cover esketamine under the provincial health care system. Ketamine isn't covered either. Isn't that helpful.
  • After an extended break from Twitter and Instagram, I'm using them again regularly, with some big changes. I've unfollowed a ton of people. I'm also managing my feed, telling Twitter to stop showing me likes and retweets from everyone I follow. Now, things are much more streamlined, and I'm not seeing a bunch of crap that I don't want to see. I'm also approaching it as another way to connect with people I already know rather than a way to build a following, which feels nicer.
  • I'm doing the final round of edits on my upcoming book A Brief History of Stigma, and it should be ready to be released sometime next month.
  • I've been very low on brain power this week. Original thought just isn't happening.
  • I'm currently reading a book that was published through an independent publishing company that charges £4000, which is about 5500 USD. Wowza, that's a lot of money, given that it's totally possible to self-publish for $0.
  • Toffee, Brownie, and Casper are totally thrilled with one another. The babies aren't so scared of me, and Casper is very happy in her role as adoptive mama. Brownie (the darker one) is very loud when she wants food—wheek wheek wheek!
