I'm posting this with one day left in August because I'm not finishing anything else this month. You know what happens when you hurt your shoulder and get a cold on vacation? You get a lot of reading done.

August Wrap-Up

The Taking of Jake Livingston by Ryan Douglass

A YA horror about a teenage medium and the vengeful spirit of a school shooter. It need more exposition about Jake's life and powers. Good but wasn't great for me. 3.5/5

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory

The next book in Guillory's connected universe of romance novels. Fun and light without being shallow. 4/5

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

Told from multiple perspectives, several people at the wedding have secrets and tragedies in their past. Will the wedding go smoothly or will the past refuse to stay buried? I really enjoyed how Foley told the story and how it slowly came together. 4/5

A Fire Story by Brian Fries

A graphic memoir about Fries loosing his home in a California wildfire. He included stories of several others who endured a similar fate as well as a few pictures. Heartbreaking and honest. 5/5

If this looks like I got less reading done than usual, it's because I DNFed a book. I'm hoping to finish it next month. To start that, I shelved another 'woman has adventure in nature' memoir.

September TBR

Upwards by Laurie Apgar Chandler

I started this on my trip because she actually visited where we were staying. I don't know why but I never got that into it. I still want to finish it.

Falling by T. J. Newman

A pilot must decide between the fate of his family or everyone on the plane he's flying. I got this from the library and it seems to be written at a pretty easy reading level.

Worst Laid Plans edited by Samantha Kolesnick

A short anthology of vacation horror. I want to finish this while it's still summery. That should give me the entire month. I'm very tired of summer weather.

A Halloween anthology

I started 2 a while back and I'd like to go back to one of them. Start the spooky season around the middle of the month
